It's been a clean sweep for 5 years in a row now. Lake Charles has once again claimed the top spot for Small Market of the Year in the South by Southern Business & Development magazine. Despite the reports of doom and gloom from other sectors of the country. Lake Charles seems to be plugging right along.

The criteria for the report is based on data from 2016 and things like capital investment projects and projects that create a number of jobs are important factors in the study. Louisiana currently has nearly 60 projects that cost $30 million or more. Now, that's a pretty impressive number.

One of the top projects is, of course, the Tellurian's $11.8 billion LNG project. That project is one of two projects involving liquefied natural gas in the area and tops the list for projects that are creating jobs in the South.
