The Labor Day holiday is coming up this weekend and people will be out and about having fun cooking out, having get-togethers with friends and family, and enjoying the three-day weekend.

Because this Monday, September 5th is a national holiday, banks along with the mail and other entities will be closed to observe the holiday. Such is the case for the city of Lake Charles.

They advised us that Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on Monday and will reopen back on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022. Other services like the Department of Public Works, and all Recycling Operations including the Nelson Ball Field/Alma Ln, Wood Waste Facility, and Roving Green Truck will be closed on Monday, September 5. They will however reopen on Tuesday, September 6 under normal hours.

Now as far as your trash pickup at your house, there will be interruptions to your trash pickup for the holiday.  Katie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles said,

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.

So make sure you plan ahead so that you don't have a mountain of trash in your front yard on a day they will not be picking it up because you may have a mess on your hands then.

Also, remember that you need to have your trash cans out by 7:00 am at the latest for them to pick them up and the city of Lake Charles said you also need to bring in your containers no later than 7:00 pm on the day of collection.
