McNeese Basketball Playing Michigan In December
Lake Charles, LA: McNeese Basketball fans got a big announcement today about a huge game in December against a storied Big Ten program that will propel the Pokes to a national stage.
New head basketball coach Will Wade is making a splash even before the first tip-off of the 23-24 season. Wade secured a game with a basketball blue blood university in December.
The Pokes will be arriving in Ann Arbor on December 29 to play the Michigan Wolverines. They were 18-16 last season, which is a far cry from their Fab Five heyday, however, this is huge news for the new-look Cowboy program.
Coach Wade told McNeese Sports Insider Jim Gazzolo that this will be a great opportunity for the Pokes to play a really good basketball team. He went on to say that he has he hopes to add two more major universities to the 23-24 schedule before it's completed.
Will Wade would also tell Gazzolo that all the transfers have arrived on campus and that the team is working hard together to prepare for this upcoming season. He also mentioned that scheduling has been somewhat difficult this offseason, because "it means we have a team that nobody wants to play".
Recently on an episode of the McNeese Coach's Show, Wade made the bold prediction that he expects the Pokes to be playing in the NCAA Basketball Tournament next year.
This will be the first meeting between McNeese and Michigan in school history.
