Lake Charles Has Best SWAT Team in the State

Big congratulations are going out to Corporals Ed Choi, Mitch Sawyer, Luke Elter (Team Sniper), William Loving, Dwayne Petroski and George Miller. those six men make up the Lake Charles Police Department's SWAT Team and they took top honors this past week after competing in an event held May 3 at the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office in Gonzales.

In that competition, each team consisted of six competitors with five entry team members and one sniper. The various competition categories were rifle, pistol, shotgun, sniper and an obstacle course. The LCPD SWAT team placed third in pistol, second in rifle, second in obstacle course and first in sniper giving them a combined score that resulted in a first place overall victory.

The LCPD even bested teams from Baton Rouge who came in 2nd and the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office placed third, according to a news release from Deputy Chief Mark Kraus, Lake Charles police spokesman.
