We are coming up to the big Fourth of July holiday, and there are a lot of things going on all over Southwest Louisiana. With that being said, if you live in Lake Charles, your garbage, trash, and recycling schedule will be altered.

The city of Lake Charles will observe the holiday on Monday, July 5 since July 4 falls on a Sunday this year, so there will be no garbage, trash, and recycling pick up this Monday.

The city of Lake Charles offices will also be closed which will include the Department of Public Works, other city departments, and Lake Charles City Hall will be closed.

According to Katie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles, the garbage pick up times will be as follows:

  • Garbage and trash normally picked up on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, July 6
  • Garbage and trash normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday, July 7
  • Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules
  • All recycling stations, including the Team Green recycling truck and the incinerator will be closed on Monday, July 5. They will resume regular operations on Tuesday, July 6.

Make sure you plan accordingly and make sure your trash cans are out by the roads no later than 7:00am on your scheduled day. Enjoy your holiday.
