In the last year and a half, the Lake Charles Comedy group has worked diligently to bring comedy back to Lake Charles. I can remember easily 20 years ago a few brave souls tried to do the same, but it fizzled out. Now, Jacob Guidry is making a run at bringing the funny back to the Lake Area.

I have talked to Guidry a few times now and even had the honor of hosting one of his "roast" nights on stage. Guidry recently went "all in" with his passion for comedy when he quit his full-time job in order to focus more on not only his own comedy career but to further bringing comedy back to Lake Charles. Guidry, and a rag-tag group of local comedians put on various shows for free or special events and local venues. Currently, Guidry oversees 5 successful comedy shows that run in rotation each month: LOL, Freezin N Cheezin, Zingers, and more. TIckets to some of these shows are at the lowest $10 to attend, and usually include a venue that serves food and beverages. Essentially, you can have a cheap date night and laugh, or groan to a show at the same time.

One of the next events The Lake Charles Comedy group is doing is part of their LOL series called "Laugh or Treat". It is being held on October 14 at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm. The event will be held at Crying Eagle brewing in Lake Charles. General admission tickets to the show are $10 each and you can reserve tables for yourself and some friends from $25 up to $60. Guidry will host not only local comedians for the event but is bringing in comedians from Baton Rouge and Houston.

If you have yet to see a comedy show put on by Guidry, I really feel you owe it to yourself to pay the little $10 and see what these guys and gals are all about. You can purchase your tickets HERE while they last.  They work hard to make us all laugh, and you can truly see their passion for it. As someone who has tried stand-up comedy before, it's not the easiest thing in the world to do. Go check out Laugh or Treat at Crying Eagle and see for yourself!
