LaGrange Street Man Takes Family Hostage After Home Invasion
A Lake Charles man is behind bars after he took six people hostage on Denise Street Thursday night after he allegedly broke into another home.
Police were called to the 2000 block of Susan Street for a home invasion and an aggravated battery with shots fired, according to Lake Charles Police Deputy Chief Mark Kraus. Joshua Jermaine Plumber, 25, of 350 W. LaGrange Street had already fled the scene by the time police got there.
He then forced his way into the home on Denise Street and took three children and three adults hostage, keeping them captive until around 2 a.m. this morning. The hostages were eventually released unharmed after the LCPD SWAT team and a negotiator talked Plumber down.
Plumber is being charged with home invasion, aggravated battery, illegal use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and six counts of false imprisonment. The investigation is still ongoing, according to Kraus, so more details may continue to surface.
