Operation Summer Knights Was A Huge Success
In what the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Louisiana New Orleans deemed " Operation Summer Knights" a total of eight persons were arrested and these fourteen kids have been rescued!
Not being ones afraid to spread the glory, the U.S. Marshals were quick to point out that there were a number of agencies involved in "Operation Summer Knights" including the New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and several other agencies.
WAFB wrote that:
“I am very proud of the results of Operation Summer Knights and the profound impact it has had on protecting one of the most vulnerable groups in our community,” said Enix Smith, U.S. Marshal for the eastern district of Louisiana. “This work could not be accomplished without the support of our federal, state, and local partners agencies involved in safeguarding at-risk children.
According to a report from the U.S. Marshals, "Operation Summer Knights" was an investigation conducted between April 30 and August 31 in the New Orleans area and among the fourteen missing or endangered children recovered, was a 15-year-old pregnant girl, a 17-year-old boy who had been kidnapped from a home in Jefferson Parish and held for ransom, and a 13-year-old runaway girl who was rescued by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
The 13-year-old girl, according to authorities, ran away on July 10, 2022 and was rescued just two days later in Denham Springs. Authorities also stated that it is believed that the 13-year-old was in contact via social media with an 18-year-old male.
