This was an interesting experiment with fascinating results. It seems that French photographer Xavier Hubert Brierre traveled to the African coastal country of Gabon and set up a giant mirror in the wild and filmed the reactions of animals seeing their own reflections.

We've all seen parakeets react to having a mirror in their cage, but the reaction of really wild animals is very interesting to watch. The apes in particular seem to have the strongest reaction and seem to view their reflections as interlopers in their territory while the chimps just seem to be curious.

At about :27 seconds into the video, you'll see what I mean about the aggressive reaction of the gorillas. Of course the growl of the big cat at :40 is enough to make your blood run cold!
