Sonnier has played with Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Elvis Costello, Alan Jackson and Robert Cray to name a few (according to a CMT interview.)  Johnny Cash recorded "Cajun Born" which is a song that Sonnier wrote with Kermit Goel. Sonnier's dad worked in the cotton fields to earn the money to buy his son's first accordion. Sonnier's roots are deep in the Cajun French culture. His first language was French.

This is Sonnier's fourth Grammy nomination. His latest album "Legacy" has been nominated for "Best Regional Roots Album." We all wish him luck tonight.
