Scary Video Shows Riders Stranded 250 Feet in the Air During Storm at Six Flags
A group of thrill-seekers got a little more than they bargained for when they found themselves stranded nearly 250 feet above the ground at Six Flags Mexico when a sudden storm disrupted operations last Sunday. The riders were on the famous Supergirl Sky Flight, known for its breathtaking views of Mexico City—when the weather is clear. Unfortunately, these riders experienced a different kind of thrill as heavy rain and strong winds set in, halting the ride mid-air.
Video footage captured by one of the passengers, Omar Hernández Medrano, shows the harrowing moments as the ride came to an abrupt stop, leaving the riders exposed to the elements two dozen stories up. “We went up Supergirl, and as it was underway, it started to rain and quickly got worse,” Medrano recounted. “As we were high up, with the rain and the ride in motion, it stopped, and we were stuck at the top for 10 minutes in heavy rain.”
The ride, which reaches heights of nearly 243 feet and speeds of 40 mph, was one of several attractions affected by the sudden storm. Six Flags Mexico confirmed that the storm temporarily disrupted multiple rides across the park. While the situation was undoubtedly frightening for those on board, the park reported that all safety protocols were followed, and no injuries occurred.
“The storm intensified during the evacuation process, creating some uncomfortable moments for our visitors,” the park stated. Despite the intense weather, park staff quickly responded, assisting the stranded riders and ensuring their safe evacuation.
Operations at Six Flags Mexico resumed shortly after the incident, with the Supergirl Sky Flight back in service. The park emphasized that safety remains its top priority and continues to monitor weather conditions closely to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
