A teenager from Mamou, Louisiana was reportedly shot and killed this past weekend while returning to homecoming festivities in her hometown.

Dashayla Ardoin, of Mamou, was shot and killed by Glenkeithan Robertson, of Opelousas, according to police.

The two were returning from dinner in the Lafayette area and set to return to homecoming festivities in Mamou when Roberston reportedly shot and killed Ardoin, then turned the gun on himself.

The incident happened in the Richard area on Saturday night.

Authorities say that there was no one else in the vehicle at the time of the shooting and the incident remains under investigation.

The Town of Mamou and Mamou High School are mourning the loss of a young lady who Mamou High described as such:

"Dashayla will always be remembered for her courage and bravery, her kind heart, and her beautiful smile. She was so very loved and will be dearly missed."
