Louisiana State Police officials say they were called out to investigate a crash Saturday at around 5 o'clock in the afternoon after a motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash.

According to Trooper Matt Gaspard with the Public Affairs Section of Louisiana State Police, their preliminary investigation shows that on Saturday, January 4, the operator of the motorcycle ended up going off the roadway.

They are still working to determine all aspects of the case and why 42-year-old Jeromy Francis Ambrose left the roadway in a curve and ended up hitting a tree on the side of the roadway.

Louisiana State Police officials say Ambrose was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened on Louisiana Highway 109 near Bearhead Road.

As is standard in any case involving a traffic fatality, investigators gathered toxicology samples, which will be turned over to a lab for analysis.

Gaspard says this is the information from their preliminary investigation, and more investigation on this fatal motorcycle crash will continue.
