According to BRproud, the list of stolen vehicles most often in Louisiana shows a change in the type of vehicle being taken. Two of the most popular vehicles bought and driven by people in the Bayou State are Ford and Chevy trucks.

The data shows a new trend regarding what thieves are interested in stealing. Instead of stealing trucks, people interested in boosting vehicles are choosing students more often.

NCIB has the following tips to hopefully help prevent your car from being stolen:

  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
  • Hide valuables out of sight, such as in the glove box or trunk.
  • Do not leave your keys in your vehicle.
  • Do not leave the area while your vehicle is running.
  • If your vehicle is stolen, call law enforcement and your insurer immediately because reporting a vehicle as soon as possible after it is stolen increases the chance of recovery.
