7 Questions No One From Louisiana Wants to be Asked at Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving week is finally here, so hopefully, you have started thawing out your turkey and are coming to the end of your grocery shopping since most stores in Louisiana will be closed Thursday.

Louisiana folks are natural-born party throwers, and Thanksgiving is just another excuse to cook loads of food, kick back, and relax with family and friends.

However, some topics and discussions are certain to spoil everyone's appetite and are best avoided unless you enjoy yelling and shouting across the dinner table.

While there is so much to look forward to, we can't help but start to dread certain topics coming up in the middle of Thanksgiving lunch or dinner.

We asked our listeners what questions they don't want to be asked at Thanksgiving, and it's safe to say there are some commonly asked questions no one wants to answer because they make everyone uncomfortable at the dinner table.

You would think that it would be common sense not to bring up certain topics in front of the whole family, but just to be safe, we compiled a list of the questions that should not be asked at Thanksgiving.

10 Questions You Should Avoid Asking At Thanksgiving

1. "Did you gain/lose weight?'

Apparently, people still don't understand why this question is never appropriate to ask so we made sure to include it in our list. When we asked our listeners this was the most common question people said they did not want to be asked at Thanksgiving.

2. "What happened to the other guy/girl?"

The number of people who said they have been asked this exact question with their new girlfriend or boyfriend sitting next to them at Thanksgiving was surprising considering how blatantly rude this question is, now we all know not to ask this at a table full of people.

3. "Why didn't you get any [insert food item]?"

Thanksgiving is about family but if we are being honest it's more about the food here in Louisiana. This may come as a shock but some people don't want to eat ham, or your cranberry sauce and that is totally ok, you don't need to be the plate police this year, take the day off.

4. "When are y'all having kids?"

When I tell you no one in our comment section on social media wants to be asked this question, easily one of the most commented responses. This is a super personal question that could lead to potentially uncomfortable conversation especially if that couple is not planning on having kids or physically can't have them.

5. "Who Did You Vote For?"

Again, we think this is a pretty obvious question to avoid asking at Thanksgiving unless you are intentionally trying to start an argument then by all means. Anything political should be avoided at all costs for everyone's sake.

6. "Are you really going to eat all of that? Or "Is that all you're going to eat?"

You never know what someone is going through, and drawing attention to how much or how little someone is eating makes everyone uncomfortable.

7. "When are y'all getting engaged?"

Believe me when I tell you that this question is one you want to avoid this Thanksgiving. If you are a married person asking a young couple this, you should know that there are so many factors that contribute to a couple getting engaged. Finances and other private matters for starters, neither of which are any of your business.
