
6 Students Taken to Hospital After Louisiana School Bus Crash
PORT ALLEN, La. - Six students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a crash involving a school bus Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026, in West Baton Rouge Parish.

What Happened in the West Baton Rouge Bus Crash?
According to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 6:45 a.m. on LA 415 at Main Street. The bus was carrying students from Port Allen Elementary School and Cohn Intermediate when it collided with another vehicle.
Six Students Taken to Hospital
Six students were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. A spokesperson for the West Baton Rouge Parish School District said the children were taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. The other students on the bus were transferred to another bus so they could continue on to their schools.
Other Driver Also Hospitalized
The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
LA 415 Reopens After Crash
The crash briefly blocked the roadway near the median, but traffic was directed around the scene. The vehicles were removed from the roadway by approximately 7:55 a.m.
The school bus was operated by DS Bus South, which provides transportation services to schools across Louisiana. The district said DS Bus South handles all aspects of accidents involving buses operated under its contract.
Crash Investigation Underway
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
