Stimulus Update – $2,400 Payments Heading to Louisiana Families?
(KMDL-FM) If you ask followers of Dale Carnegie what the sweetest sound a person can hear is, they will tell you it's the sound of their own name. I would hazard to guess running a close second in that "sweetest sound" competition would be the phrase, "you're getting $2,400 from the government".
Okay, I kid because I can, but I am not kidding you when I tell you the potential for Louisiana families to get a $2,400 stimulus check from the federal government is not as far-fetched as you might believe.

Most of us remember the COVID stimulus checks from 2020 and 2021. Many of you got one of those, and they came at a very crucial time for Americans during that very uncertain time. Based on a new proposal, as Americans once again face uncertain times, there could be stimulus money arriving in your bank account.
What Are The Proposed $2,400 Stimulus Checks Called?
The measure is officially known in the chambers of government as the American Worker Rebate Act. The legislation was presented in July. The plan proposes that the federal government use monies generated by recently increased tariffs to supply rebate checks to American families.
The stimulus payments would follow a similar but not specific protocol as the COVID stimulus payments were vetted with. There will be an income cap on those who are eligible, and those who earn more than that ceiling would not qualify for the funds.
How Much Money Would Individuals Get with the Proposed Stimulus Plan in 2025?
The breakdown of payments for qualified participants flows like this. Individuals who qualify and their dependent children could each receive a stipend of $600. That means a qualifying family of four could be "stimulated" to the tune of $2,400.
Those who would not qualify for the stimulus payments would be those with a household income of $150,000 or more. The number is $112,500 for heads of households and $75,000 for individual taxpayers. The money used to fund the program would come from collected tariffs on goods imported into the country.
Based on figures provided by the federal government, the new tariff program initiated earlier this year is bringing in an estimated $30 billion each month. Over a year's time, that could more than adequately fund the stimulus proposal that is being considered.
There has been no official timetable issued by the government on if or when stimulus payments could begin or even if they would begin. But the current thinking is, expect a check from Uncle Sam sometime soon.
