The Powerball lottery game has confirmed that three tickets sold in Louisiana have each earned a prize over $50,000. Two of the tickets sold in the state for the April 22, 2023, Powerball game matched the numbers needed to claim a prize of $100,000.

Needless to say, it was a lucrative night for those who choose to play the Powerball game in Louisiana. Our state is one of 45 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands that participate in the game.

Last night's drawing was for a beginning jackpot. The Powerball game had just gotten a jackpot winner for $252 million this past Wednesday. By the way that jackpot winner was sold in Ohio.

But, back to last night's drawing and our winners in Louisiana. Here is how the drawing unfolded at 10 pm on Saturday night.

The Powerball website confirms that the numbers drawn for April 22, 2023, were:

17   36   47   63   68   Powerball 25  Power Play x2

There were no tickets sold for last night's drawing that matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize of $20 million. So unlike the Mega Millions game that got back to back jackpot winners after a big win, the Powerball game did not.

There were also no Match 5 winners from last night's game either so the tickets sold in Louisiana actually generated some of the larger prizes that were won across the state. The Texas Lottery is also reporting a couple of big wins from last night with a $100,000 winner and a $50,000 winner.

Unfortunately the Texas Lottery has not posted point of purchase locations for the winning tickets sold there but the Louisiana Lottery has done so for the three big winners in The Boot.

First, the $50,000 winner. That ticket was sold in Gretna at Magnolia Discount. The ticket purchaser matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. One of the $100,000 winners was sold in New Orleans. It was purchased at Prytania Mart on Prytania Street in the city. That ticket also matched four the five white balls and the Powerball but the ticket purchaser opted in for the Powerplay which doubled the winnings.

The third $100,000 winner was sold in Acadiana. That ticket that matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball with the Power Play option invoked as well. The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that ticket was sold at Short Stop #7 in Opelousas. That retailer is located on Creswell Lane in the 1300 block.

The Powerball jackpot will climb to an estimated $28 million for Monday's drawing. The Mega Millions game will feature an estimated jackpot of $26 million when that game is next played on Tuesday evening.
