(KMDL-FM) Some of us are old enough to remember the time BF, that's "Before Fox". You see, as TV networks go for viewers in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Alexandria, and other cities in Louisiana, there was once a time when "Fox" was a movie company, not a television company.

How long do you think the "Fox Network", you know the one that gave us The Simpsons, the Arsenio Hall Show, 21 Jump Street, and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, has been around? Some of us have t-shirts older than this network.

The Fox Network debuted with what is described as a soft launch on October 9th, 1986. The network managed to make a few waves with some of its shows, namely The Simpsons and Married with Children, but it was in 1994 when Fox became the Fourth Network.

You see, in 1994, Fox started broadcasting NFL Games and the rest is history. Fast forward some 30 years or so, and Fox and its family of networks have grown to be more than NFL Football and NASCAR racing. Fox News is one of the most popular sources of information in the country. And the Fox Sports Networks offer a wide array of live sporting events, including college football.

Why Is Fox News Going Off Some Louisiana Televisions on Wednesday?

Unfortunately, many of you could be missing out on those college football games this weekend, or the NFL games in a week or so, or the news of the day on Fox News if an agreement is not reached between Fox and the owners of YouTube. For those who don't know, YouTube is owned by Google.

According to YouTube TV's Official Blog, if an agreement between the Fox networks and Google can't be reached by tomorrow, then fans of Fox who get their television via YouTube TV will not have Fox as an option.

While those with a nose for news will certainly miss out on seeing their favorite Fox News personalities if this deal is not completed by Wednesday evening, the bigger blow will come this weekend when Fox Sports airs the marquee matchup in college football, featuring Ohio State hosting the University of Texas.

What Happens if Fox is Off YouTube TV for an Extended Period of Time?

Let us hope that calmer and cooler heads prevail and all the paperwork can be completed by Wednesday's 4 pm Louisiana-time deadline. YouTube has already confirmed that if the Fox networks do go off the platform for an extended period of time, subscribers will be compensated with a $10 credit.
