The game of golf is alive and well in the state of Louisiana. According to golflink.com there are 140 golf courses in Louisiana. Eighty of those courses are public courses, another 30 are private courses, and still another 30 would qualify to be called municipal golf courses. Louisiana even has its own "Golf Trail".

That "trail" stretches across the state and includes stops at some of the most renowned courses in the state. Sixteen different courses make up the Audubon Golf Trail in Louisiana and one of those sixteen courses has just earned another honor that is sure to lure in fans of the links from around the country and around the world.

The website PrimePutt used data from Tripadvisor to compile a list of golf courses from each state. By using metrics that combined course reviews, the course rating, and the number of page views made to the course reviews they derived "the best" golf course in each state.

Based on the metrics and the reviews PrimePutt deduced that Gray Plantation in Lake Charles was "the best" golf course in Louisiana. The Gray Plantation facility features an award-winning golf course and a sports club. The course has been named by Golf Digest as a Top 100 Course in the nation. The club earned that distinction between 2001 and 2006.
