(KMDL-FM) The Food Safety Inspection Service, a division of the United States Department of Agriculture, has issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat meals containing pre-cooked pasta. Inspectors with FSIS say the concern and the reason for the public health action is possible contamination with Listeria.

You may recall that just a few days ago, the FSIS issued an alert concerning possible contamination with Listeria linked to chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals, also sold at Walmart. The products included in this most recent public health alert are different. But the similarity is that they all include pre-cooked pasta.

The current public health alert covers the following product, according to the FSIS/USDA website.

12-oz. clear plastic tray packages labeled “MARKETSIDE LINGUINE WITH BEEF MEATBALLS & MARINARA SAUCE” with “best if used by” dates SEP 22, 2025; SEP 24, 2025; SEP 25, 2025; SEP 29, 2025; SEP 30, 2025; and OCT 01, 2025.

It should also be noted that the product bears the establishment number "EST.50784" or "EST.47718" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Here is how to locate the USDA mark of inspection on most products. We realize this is hard to visualize, so here is a picture of the product, both front and back, so you can compare this to any products you may have purchased and stored in your home.

The concern with Listeria is especially noteworthy among older adults and those with compromised immune systems. Listeriosis symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and gastrointestinal issues.

There is a concern that this product may have been purchased by consumers and stored in freezers for later use. This is why you need to check the label and make sure you are looking at the specific "Establishment" numbers that will confirm whether or not you have the product under scrutiny.

How Do You Get a Refund or Replacement on a Recalled Product?
