The Houma Intracoastal Waterway Tunnel sits along Highway 3040, carrying traffic beneath the Intracoastal Waterway in Terrebonne Parish. Opened in 1961, the tunnel stretches roughly 960 feet and remains one of only three highway tunnels in Louisiana.

Others repeatedly say they get strange feelings while driving through the Houma Tunnel, such strong creepy feelings that many people choose another route whenever possible.
While there has never been any concrete evidence proving paranormal activity exists inside the tunnel, the stories have become part of Houma folklore.
