Former New Orleans Saint-Turned-Attorney Randall Gay Suspended From Law Job Following Argument With Police
A former NFL player, who is now an assistant district attorney, has been suspended from his job after he showed up at a crime scene and got into an alleged heated exchange with West Baton Rouge Parish deputies.
District Attorney Tony Clayton suspended Randall Gay from his 18th JDC office without pay after the latter showed up at a house where deputies were serving a warrant.
That warrant was being served to Gay's 19-year-old son, Randall Gay III, who was being arrested for drugs and possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substances.
According to Clayton, deputies were executing a warrant related to an earlier shooting. Sources said that Gay was upset that his son was being arrested so he showed up and began asking all kinds of questions. At some point, the exchange with deputies on the scene became heated.
That news was brought to Clayton's attention and he immediately took action.
"I suspended him without pay, and he will have a disciplinary review hearing on June 15," Clayton said.
In regards to the incident, WBRSO deputies executed a search warrant at a home in Brusly around 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Deputies observed a black SUV with a personalized license plate "New Orleans Saints #20" in the driveway with three people sitting inside.
Gay III told authorities there was a gun in the vehicle and deputies found a Glock under the seat. The front passenger Kentrell Moore, 19, was removed from the vehicle and another Glock was found under the front passenger seat.
A third passenger, Sydney Moore, 20, was then removed from the back seat and cops found a pistol on the floorboard that was said to be stolen in the town of Addis.
Deputies also found two bags of marijuana in the vehicle that weighed 16 grams and 20.5 grams respectively.
Kevin Duval, Chief of Staff at the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, said the following individuals were arrested as a result of the warrant:
- Demarcus Brown, 19 (Jailed on a $250,000 bond): Attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons
- Randall Gay, 19 (Out on a $15,000 bond): Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute schedule 1 narcotics
