Feds Confirm $1,702 Stimulus Checks – Who Is Getting Them?
(KMDL-FM) Every time I hear the word stimulus, I think back to my days in high school, where we learned about a scientist named Pavlov and his slobbering dog. In today's modern times, the word stimulus is most often associated with money, as in free government money.
A few years back, during the COVID pandemic, a lot of us in Texas and Louisiana got a stimulus check from the federal government. And if that did anything, it taught the hired hands in Washington, D.C. that if the voting public gets a little too unruly, you can always calm them down by sending them money.

Of course, the "elected braintrust" didn't really stop to think about where that money would actually come from, but still, they sent it, and we spent it. It's no wonder most of us don't understand the federal budget and how the federal deficit affects us all.

How Much Money Is The Stimulus Check For?
There has been a lot of publicity about a new federal stimulus program involving a payout of $1,702. If I recall, that's slightly higher than what a single individual would have received for the COVID stimulus.
Many alleged news stories have tied stimulus money to recently imposed tariffs on other countries imposed by our own government. Some have reported these stimulus checks will be to help Americans defray the higher costs that could be associated with increased tariffs on imported goods.
When Should Texas and Louisiana Residents Expect Their $1,702 Stimulus Check?
I guess if we wanted to answer that question in a single word, the word that would be most appropriate would be, never. You see, that $1,702 stimulus check that has been widely reported as being "for you" is "not for you". The only people who can and will receive this stimulus payment have one thing in common.
That one thing? They all live in Alaska. The stimulus or stipend is part of that state's Alaska Permanent Fund. It was a fund established in 1982 to distribute revenue created by the state's oil, gas, and mineral royalties. Every citizen in Alaska is entitled to the stimulus or stipend.
How this got misconstrued as a "stimulus" for everyone in America is not certain, but you can bet someone heard the words "stimulus" and "check" and put two and two together and got five. By the way, those would not be the people we want balancing our nation's budget. But they are the people we elected.
Now, if you find yourself in need of a little extra cash, go check your attic. You must find a fortune in all of those old school supplies you stashed up there.
