Heisman Odds For LSU QB Jayden Daniels Are High

The LSU season hasn't officially begun, but the hype machine is already humming along. However, this time the hype train isn't pulling out of Baton Rouge, its coming out of Vegas.

LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels was a candidate to flirt with the NFL Draft at the end of last season, but he made the decision to come back to Brian Kelly's LSU program. The decision appears to be a good one...at least before games are played.

Oddsmakers have started the season with Daniels having the second best odds to win the Heisman Trophy this year. At least according to Draft Kings.

The Preseason Heisman odds from Draft Kings puts USC Quarterback Caleb Williams as the favorite with +450 odds. Then Daniels checks in at +1100. He's followed by Texas QB Quinn Ewers at +1300, then a three way odds tie with Clemson QB Cade Klubnik, Florida State QB Jordan Travis, and Georgia QB Carson Beck all at +1400.

For Daniels, the hype train now includes NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals too. He has become a spokesman for Powerade and Beats By Dre this year, and has some other local/regional NIL deals too.

LSU has a lot of momentum this season, coming off Brian Kelly's first year where they beat Alabama and won the SEC West. They were an extra point away from extending last year's Florida State opener (or as they got it rolling later in the year, a 2-point conversion away from winning it) and had that happened, the team could have reached even higher heights.

That's one of the toughest things about college football, one poorly timed loss and derail all of the hype and Playoff hopes. But if LSU can rack up wins, and Daniels can play well, this team is poised to get a Playoff bid, and send Daniels to the Heisman presentation.
