Who was Anne Rice?

Anne Rice was a prolific author and former resident of New Orleans until she died in 2021. Not only did she write gothic fiction, but she also wrote erotica and Christian literature. What Anne Rice series is filming now in New Orleans, LA?

AMC is currently filming season two of the Mayfair Witches in New Orleans. So, if you haven't seen season one yet, you have some catching up to do. Season one came out in January of 2023 starring Alexandra Daddario. Check them out filming at night in Jackson Square earlier this month. It's positively spooky!

What is Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches series about?

IMDB.com describes the plot as 'Follows a neurosurgeon who discovers she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. She must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.' What they don't tell you is that the main character Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding doesn't know where she came from and finds out that she's the 13th in a long line of witches and has powers she can't imagine.

The story embraces all of the spookiness that is New Orleans and was even filmed at the Soria-Creel house located at 3102 Prytania Street... and bears a striking resemblance to Anne Rice's former home, Rosegate House. In an interview in 2014, Anne said 'When I wrote “The Witching Hour,” I made the house I was living in, in the Garden District of New Orleans, on the corner of Chestnut and First Street, into the home of the Mayfair family of witches." She used it in several of her other books as well. Here's a look at the house they're filming at.

In case you're a fan of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire TV series, it's set to come out May 12th on AMC.

Louisiana Vampire Author Anne Rice's New Orleans Mansion is For Sale

Before famed Louisiana author Anne Rice died in December of 2021, she brought us an incredible wealth of literature. Starting in 1976 with her first published book Interview with the Vampire, Rice captured the imagination of fans around the world. In total she penned 36 novels, including four under the nom de plume A.N. Roquelaure, two more under a different pen name (Anne Rampling), one with her son, Christopher Rice, and one non-fiction book. Her success brought her enough money to purchase this historic (and reportedly haunted) mansion in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Now, this magnificent piece of literary history is up for sale - and it's even been reduced. The price has been slashed by $600,000, and now sits just below the $4 million mark.

If you like what you see, and you'd like to live like the Louisiana Vampire Queen Anne Rice did - just visit the realtor's page and put in an offer!
