Louisiana Keeps Dreaming Big as Powerball Soars to $1.73 Billion
Many of Us Scrambled to Purchase Our Powerball Tickets on Monday Night.
I walked into my favorite gas station and I bought $21 worth of tickets. I was humming, dreaming up how I would spend all my money. $1.55 Billion is a lot to go through, however, I have to split the cash payout with my buddy who was buying tickets on the other side of town. $679,800,000 is still a lot of money to split. Why was I so nervous? Every time I play the lottery I am convinced I will win big.
The Magical Ping Pong Balls Dropped at 10 p.m.
For some reason, I held my breath checking my tickets. We all were planning our epic spending of $1,565,000,000 right? The numbers that were drawn were 16 34 46 55 67 Powerball 14 Power Play x3
According to Powerball's Website, No Ticket Sold Matched all the Numbers.
Since no single ticket sold matched all the numbers, the jackpot has jumped to $1.73 Billion. The cash value is $756.6 Million.
Texas and Louisiana Did Have Some Big Winners.
Not all tickets were losing tickets, according to the Texas Lottery, four tickets were sold that matched four of five with the Powerball and the Power Play. Those tickets each pay $150,000. According to the Louisiana Lottery, there was one lucky winner in Opelousas that had a ticket worth $50,000. The ticket was sold at a Piggly Wiggly.
