Buc-ee’s is Finally Building in Ruston: A Look at the Massive Project’s Start
The wait for a Buc-ee's in Louisiana is almost over. Construction has officially kicked off on the massive new travel center in Ruston, just an hour down I-20 from Shreveport. To show the first signs of progress, we snapped a few photos of the construction site, offering a tangible look and proof that the massive undertaking is finally underway.
What the First Photos of Buc-ee's Construction Show
At the time these photos were taken, construction had only started a few days before. Excavators are already clearing and shaping the land, while construction trailers dot the site, a clear indication of a project in motion. The photos capture the dirty work in its early days, getting the stage set for what will be a 74,000-square-foot travel spot, complete with plenty of parking, tons of gas pumps, and shelves worth of Beaver Nuggets.

Buc-ee's Ruston: Location, Jobs, and Impact
The Buc-ee's in Ruston will be located at the Tarbutton Road exit off I-20. It's a perfect spot on the interstate and is destined to get good business daily, but it's more than just snacks and a bathroom break. It's expected that the Ruston location will create over 250 jobs, serving as a major economic development tool for the entirety of North Louisiana.
While the grand opening won't be until sometime in 2027, the progress you can see in these photos marks a huge step forward for the travel center that was originally planned to be open at the end of 2025.
A Future Destination for Shreveport Road Trips
As the construction unfolds over the next few years, the excitement will only continue to build. The Ruston Buc-ee's is on track to become a major destination, drawing travelers from across the region or anybody passing through on a road trip. For people in the Shreveport area, it's going to be the perfect, convenient pit stop or excuse for a day trip. We'll be sure to follow the project as construction continues.
