Why Do We Have Fewer Inmates Locked Up?

Data from the Prison Policy Institute says the decline in state inmates is due to several factors including:

  • A 50% decrease in the number of prisoners held for nonviolent offenses
  • A sharp drop in recidivism due to parole or probation violations, or new criminal offenses

Who Are the Most Wanted in Louisiana?

There are several prison escapees who are still on the run from the law.
Many of these cases date back for many decades. KEEL News has deleted people from this list who were born in the 1920's. We assume these folks have since died, but the cases have not been updates on the state fugitive website.
