Popular Texas Franchise To Open Two New Restaurants In Louisiana

(Lake Charles, Louisiana) - Get ready Southwest Louisiana, Golden Fried Chicken is coming! The Texas chicken franchise will soon open two locations in Lake Charles - 3932 Ryan St and 3048 Gerstner Memorial.  It all started with Howard and Jacque Walker, who opened the first Golden Chick restaurant in 1967 in San Marcos, TX. The flagship store closed years ago but relocated to another location in San Marcos.

After a couple of short years, more sprouted up opening in New Braunfels and Georgetown. In 1989, the beloved chicken chain was purchased by the Parmerlee family and it remains a family-owned corporation. Today the Texas chicken joint has 211 franchise locations throughout Central Texas, Oklahoma, and three other states. Coming soon the first restaurants in Louisiana will open right here in Lake Charles.

In 2022, Nation's Restaurant News named Golden Chick one of the top 200 restaurant brands in the nation! The chain is rapidly growing and has even picked up a few Olympic celebrity fans along the way!

In April, Mayor Nic Hunter announced Golden Chick was breaking ground at its first location in Lake Charles on Gerstner Memorial and details of the second SWLA were coming soon. Now there's confirmation that the chicken chain has staked out property for a new restaurant to be built on Ryan Street.

As you can see construction Golden Chicken restaurants in Lake Charles are off to a racing start. Below is a look at the Gerstner Memorial location. Things are moving fast! From the looks of things, the franchise will open in a few more weeks!

It's been over 40 years and the Golden Chick is still keeping customers happy with their signature chicken, chicken stripes, sandwiches, delicious sides, salads, and more! We look forward to the grand openings of the Lake Charles, with the dates TBA.
