With the 2024 Presidential Election just around the corner now is the time for all registered voters to make sure they handle any voter registration business. If you have moved, you must ensure your new address is reflected on your registration.

If you need to request a mail-in ballot, change parties, questions about your voter status, etc. take care of these things before the deadline (dates and deadlines below) so that you can vote in the upcoming Presidential Election.

LOUISIANA VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINES

  • The deadline to register to vote in person and by mail - October 7, 2024
  • The deadline to register to vote online - October 15, 2024

If you submit your voter registration application online, you must have a valid Louisiana drivers license or Louisiana Special ID card number to complete your registration. You will also need to enter the last 4 digits of your social security number on the form.

To register to vote by mail or in-person download the Louisiana Voter Registration Application, complete it and mail it back or bring it to the Calcasieu Parish Registrar of Voters Office

New Voter ID
If you're a Calcasieu Parish voter who needs a new voter information card you can request a new card by calling the Registrar of Voters office at (337) 721-4000.

Copy of Voter ID
If you need a certified copy of your voter information card then you must bring a drivers license or other identification card with you to the Registrar of Voters office. You must come in person. No one else may pick up a copy for a voter, this includes: family, friends and acquaintances.

Louisiana requires voters to present photo identification (ID) while voting. Voter ID law
Louisiana's voter ID requirements are outlined in Louisiana Revised Statutes §18:562:Accepted forms of ID include:

  • a driver's license
  • a Louisiana special ID
  • LA Wallet digital driver's license
  • United States military identification card that contains the applicant's name and picture

Registered voters can bring their voter information card to the Office of Motor Vehicles to receive a free Louisiana special ID card.

Voters who do not have accepted ID may vote by completing a voter identification affidavit. By law, voters who sign an affidavit may be challenged.
