UPDATE Lagunas Downtown Lake Charles Hit With A Little More Than April Showers
UPDATE (4-12-24)
I just wanted everyone to know Lagunas Mexican Grill & Cantina took a lickin', but as you can see, they kept on tickin'! They patched up their roof yesterday, and all is well. The building sustained some damage, but nothing they can't handle, the manager told me. By the way, they are very much open for business (regular hours), and the food is excellent!
Many Southwest Louisiana residents are experiencing power outages that have forced several school boards to close area schools. Early morning thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall, flooding the streets and sporadic tornados, hail, dangerous lightning, and torrential winds.
The storm damaged the local power system, leaving thousands of residents without power. Entergy has crews out, working to restore power to impacted areas. Local stores, restaurants, bars, and various neighborhoods are dealing with "hurricane-like" damage, with roofs being ripped off and windows blown out. Ball's Fried Chicken and Library Riot have been extensively damaged, and like Lagunas, both businesses are making immediate repairs.
Sadly, Lagunas Mexican Grill & Cantina is another local business that has sustained substantial damage. From the looks of things, they may be closed for a few days to fix the damage caused by Wednesday's storm!
