Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso Not Going To Run Again
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso announced that he would not seek re-election in a very emotional speech. After 20 years as Sheriff, he explained how he came to what he says was a difficult decision.
Ahead of the sheriff's election this fall, Mancuso was surrounded by his family and his staff and said he felt it was time to retire. The Sheriff said,
“I’m tired, I don’t have that energy I had before, I don’t have that drive I had before,” Mancuso said. “Somebody told me, ‘You’ll know when it’s time,’ and I know it’s time.”
The sheriff will remain until the end of June 2024 and said he would endorse his longtime Chief Deputy, Stitch Guillory if he decides to run. Below is the live stream of his press conference this morning on KPLC.
Thank you for your service, Sheriff! We wish you the best.
