In Louisiana, the natives march to a different drum. So, some illegal things in one part of the country may be totally legal in the Bayou State. Likewise, a lot of the laws have a double meaning. It's the grey area you gotta look out for.

Rules about spitting, how not to treat chickens, or when it's okay to naked and when it can get you locked up. These things are important around these parts. Here are a few examples of what I mean.

2.  GOING TOPLESS
Based on Louisiana statute 14:106. Yes and no. As it pertains to Obscenity: You're only violating the law if you are trying to "arouse desire" by displaying your private parts or nipples. Nipples only apply if you're a woman. Currently, it is only legal for women in Louisiana to expose their breasts in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. So, as long as you got some plastic beads, you should be good to go, Sha!

Okay. Let's state the obvious...that's nasty. Moving on, if you have a fetish for climbing in local dumpsters, here are a few things you need to know. Dumpster diving is legal in Louisiana, but it depends on where the dumpster is and who it belongs to.
If the dumpster is on private property, fight the temptation to swim through the trash. Trespassing laws are serious in the Bayou State, so do your homework before you dive.

7. COLLECTING RAINWATER
Believe it or not, some states have restrictions on how much rainwater can be collected and how it is collected. Many of the limits date back to water laws for settlers in the old West. The good news is rainwater collection is legal in Louisiana. However, state statutes require covers for large collection tanks or cisterns.
