Watch As SNL Does Hilarious Skit On Kim Mulkey
It seemed inevitable that LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey would eventually be made fun of on "Saturday Night Live," and that time has come.
For starters, the women's tournament was one of the most successful tournaments the women's game has ever seen. The games featuring the Iowa Hawkeyes broke records in three straight games. The LSU game featured 12.3 million viewers, the UConn game featured 14.2 million viewers, and finally, the Championship Game vs South Carolina featured over 18 million viewers.
Her Mulkey character, played by seasoned cast member Heidi Gardner, was featured in the episode's cold open on Saturday night. The skit parodied the CBS and TNT studio broadcast of the NCAA Tournament, featuring absurd jokes about Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson.
The humor mostly focused on how the women's NCAA Tournament has become more well-known than the men's, with Mulkey, Iowa's Caitlin Clark, and LSU star Angel Reese all becoming even more well-known.
Funny imitation of LSU women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey by "SNL" cast member Heidi Gardner stole the show, making fun of Mulkey's well-known outfits: "I had this manufactured to order. "I got this custom-made. I just told them, 'Make me look like the Riddler went to Talbot's.'"
The LSU women's basketball team is still the talk of the town when it comes to women's hoops, despite South Carolina's victory in the women's national championship on Sunday, as demonstrated by the SNL spoof.
