Things To Do In Lake Charles & SWLA This Labor Day Weekend Sept. 1-4
It's time for the holiday weekend and who couldn't use a three-day weekend huh? What is perfect is that football starts this weekend all over Southwest Louisiana. Combine that with concerts and live music in the area, and we have a weekend full of things to do.
Let's get started. Here is your list of things going on in Southwest Louisiana and in Lake Charles this weekend.
The Cowboy Block Party is Friday night at the corner of McNeese and Common Streets in Lake Charles. This is a free event and is open to all ages. You can bring your lawn chair and your ice chest filled with any beverages you would like. The concert that night features The Flamethrowers live from 7:00 to 9:00 with a DJ after the concert.
The Frontmen featured Tim Rushlow formerly of Little Texas, Larry Stewart of Restless Heart, & Richie McDonald formerly of Lonestar will be live at the Golden Nugget's Grand Event Center in Lake Charles at 8:30 pm.
Johnny Jimenez and his band will be all over Southwest Louisiana this weekend. Johnny will play at these locations:
- Friday, Sept. 1st -- The Cove in Westlake, Louisiana -- 9:00 pm
- Saturday, Sept. 2nd -- The Social Club In Lake Charles -- 8:00 pm
- Sunday, Sept. 3rd -- Koozies in Lake Charles -- 8:00 pm
- Monday, Sept 4th (Labor Day) -- Linda's Lounge In Lake Charles -- 2:00 pm
The McNeese Cowboys will have its first football game of the 2023 season on Saturday night, September 2nd when they host Tarleton State at Cowboys Stadium. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:00 p.m.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is holding a DWI checkpoint on Friday night, September 1st.
The #5 LSU Tigers football team will take on #8 Florida State on Sunday night, Sept. 3rd with kickoff set for 6:30 pm. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
If you live in Lake Charles, your trash pick-up times and days have been changed for the Labor Day holiday because the city of Lake Charles is closed on Monday. Here are the new times and dates.
