Lake Charles, Louisiana (KNGT-FM) - Back in the old days, there was nothing quite like going to the Skating Rink and enjoying a night with your friends. Older folks will always tell you about how much fun it was to head out to the skating rink on a Friday or Saturday Night with friends and family. I'm a younger guy, and we still loved to do it when I was a kid growing up in the early 2000's.

Well, we've got some awesome news for Lake Charles residents because we're kicking off the new year with the first SKATE NIGHT of 2026, and we've got everything you need to know!

It feels like skating rinks are nearly a thing of the past these days. If you grew up in Southwest Louisiana, you probably remember the thrill of lacing up your skates and heading to a local rink. In Lake Charles, kids spent their weekends at Skate City or McBride's Roller Rink in the 1980s and 1990s. In Moss Bluff, Wheelers was the place to be, while Sulphur had LaFluer Roller Rink off Ruth Street.

Today, options are far fewer, and the fun of rolling around to your favorite songs in a crowded rink feels like a memory from another era.
