Pet Owners: Drive Thru Rabies Clinics Coming to Sulphur, Lake Charles
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - If you are a pet owner and your little furry friend needs its rabies shots, you'll want to know this. We all know that the cost of having a pet can get up there, especially with yearly shots and check-ups at Vet clinics, which can get pricy.
To help offset those costs, the Calcasieu Animal Services is holding a drive-thru rabies clinic in March and April 2026 at two different locations on two separate dates. This gives you a chance to get your pets vaccinated without breaking your wallet.

Laura Heller with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury let us know all the info about this event, and we wanted to pass it along to you. She said,
Clinic dates, times, and locations:
· 7 a.m. – noon, Saturday, March 7, 2026: Burton Coliseum Complex parking lot, 7001 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles.
· 7 a.m. - noon, Saturday, April 25, 2026: West-Cal Arena & Events Center parking lot, 401 Arena Road, Sulphur.
What is the cost?
- The vaccination and licensing fee for an animal that is already spayed or neutered is $8. For an unaltered pet, the fee is $10. Microchipping will also be available at the clinics.
How to pay?
- Residents can pay with cash or checks only. No debit or credit cards will be accepted.
We have personally taken our dog Bandit to these drive-thru rabies clinics at both locations, at the Burton and to the one in Sulphur, and let me tell you, they are fast, convenient, and you're in and out in 10 minutes. You never even get out of your vehicle. The doctor gives your pet the shot while you hold them in the vehicle.
So mark your calendar, get your pet vaccinated, and save some money. By the way, here are some pretty places across Southwest Louisiana to take your pet for a walk.
