
McNeese Looks to Bounce Back Against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi, Texas (KNGT-FM) - It's bounce-back time once again for McNeese State after the Cowboys fell to UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday. They'll turn their focus to a big conference matchup with Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Monday Afternoon.
McNeese comes into Monday's matchup with the Islanders at 14-4 overall and now 7-2 in Southland Conference play.

Saturday, McNeese fell to UTRGV down in The Valley 79-76. McNeese fell behind early and trailed by as many as 23 points late in the first half. The Cowboys fought their way back and had two chances in the final seconds to force overtime, but both shots missed. The loss to the Vaqueros snapped McNeese’s seven-game conference winning streak.
Tyshawn Archie led McNeese with 23 points against UTRGV. He has now scored 20 or more points in two of his last three games.
Archie is second on the team in scoring this season at 14.7 points per game and leads the Cowboys in conference play at 15.8 points per game. Larry Johnson leads the team overall, averaging 16.5 points per game, and is close behind Archie in league games.

Now, McNeese will turn their focus to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
The Islanders have been one of the top teams in the Southland Conference over the last few years. Currently, A&MCC sits one game behind McNeese in the conference standings.

Under Jim Shaw, the Islanders have been one of the toughest teams to beat at home. Over the last three years, Corpus Christi has a 34-5 home record. Two of those losses came against McNeese, both by just one point.
Including when McNeese pulled off one of the biggest comebacks in recent memory when the Cowboys came back from down 18 to win on a last-second tip-in, 62-61.
In conference play, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi is led by Mason Gibson, who averages 12.9 points per game and shoots well from the field and from three. Nick Shogbonyo (11.6 points) and Sheldon Williams (10.8 points) also score in double figures, with Williams leading the team in rebounds at 6.7 per game.
McNeese To Face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Pivotal SLC Matchup
McNeese will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday afternoon inside the Hilliard Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Steven King on the broadcast.
