LSU Baseball Tops One of Two Major Preseason Polls

Louisiana [KNGT-FM] - The 2026 college baseball season is right around the corner, and for the LSU Tigers, it starts its a season as the reigning national champions of the sport. They will be looking to defend their title and try to go back-to-back and make it to Omaha again this year.

It was a season to remember last year as the Tigers finished with a 53-14 overall record, made their way to the College World Series, and won the whole darn thing. The purple and gold hoisted the trophy to give the legendary baseball program its 8th National Championship.

So with that being said, it should come as no surprise that the Tigers have landed the number one spot in the USA Today coaches' preseason poll that was just released. The Tigers earned the top spot in that poll, but not the number one spot in the Baseball America poll.

The top spot in the Baseball America poll went to UCLA, with the LSU Tigers landing at the number two spot on the poll. The top five in both polls seemed to be pretty inconsistent on who the voters think are the top teams in the country. You will see this in the top five rankings in both polls below.

The Tigers are set to start the 2026 baseball season on Friday, February 13, 2026, at home at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge when they take on Milwaukee at 2:00 pm.
