Other Cajuns claim that rinsing ground beef after (or before) cooking it is not just probably foolish, but utterly unneeded.
According to author Jason Wilson of Taste of Home, he initially discovered this "hack" on TikTok a few years back, where an account holder suggested draining ground beef after cooking it to remove as much grease as possible. Additionally, he claimed that he still "gags" whenever he witnesses someone rinsing cooked ground beef.

It's pretty offensive to me, However, it seems to me that doing so would eliminate the flavor-enhancing fat found in ground beef. In his article, Wilson supports this idea.

However, why else might rinsing your ground beef be a poor idea?

Washing that liquid fat down the drain can damage your pipes in addition to removing some of the flavor. According to Wilson of Taste of Home, this is because the liquid fat solidifies as it cools and might "gum up and potentially block your pipes."

It makes sense that you would like to cut back on the amount of grease your family consumes. Waiting for it to cool is essential if you want to dispose of grease properly. Here are some tips for doing this correctly.

Additionally, leaner beef or ground turkey are options.
