
Lake Charles Trash Pickup to Be Disrupted on January 19
Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - If you live in Lake Charles and have the city pick up your trash each week, please note that on Monday, January 19, 2026, there will be no trash pickup that day.
You may not realize it, but Monday, January 19th, 2026, is a national holiday. Yes, it is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and it is a federal holiday. This means banks, schools, federal and state local agencies, and other entities will be closed that day to observe the holiday.

Such is the case with the city of Lake Charles. They will be closing their offices that day in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which means that the services and trash pickup you are used to getting will not be available that day.
Katie Harrington with the city of Lake Charles broke the news, saying,
The City of Lake Charles will observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 19, 2026. Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on this day, and there will be NO trash or garbage collection on Monday, January 19.
So, when will your trash be picked up if your regular day is on Mondays? She released the new trash pickup schedule for residents to be aware of when their trash would be picked up. The new schedule goes like this:
