Former Barbe Buc Wins World Series With Dodgers

Lake Charles native and former Barbe High School standout Hunter Feduccia celebrated a dream come true on Wednesday night. Feduccia, a catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, earned a World Series ring as his team defeated the New York Yankees 7-6 at Yankee Stadium to capture the 2024 Fall Classic.

With the win, Feduccia became the 17th former LSU Tiger to be part of a World Series-winning team, joining a storied group of LSU alumni who have experienced championship success.

Hunter’s journey to the major leagues has been an impressive one. After a standout career at Barbe High School, where he hit .353 in his senior season and won three state championships, he continued to shine in college baseball. Feduccia first played at LSU-Eunice, where he batted .394, before transferring to LSU. In 2018, he started 48 games as LSU's catcher, showcasing his talent and earning a spot in the 2018 MLB Draft. He was selected in the 12th round by the Dodgers, and after years of hard work, he made his MLB debut this past July.

During his brief time with the Dodgers in the regular season, Feduccia recorded four hits in 12 at-bats, scored twice, and added an RBI. Before his call-up, he had an excellent season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .295 with a strong .420 on-base percentage and a .451 slugging percentage in 64 games.

Barbe High School’s baseball program is one of the most successful not only in the state but across the country as well. Known for producing top talent, Barbe’s team has won multiple state championships and consistently competes at a high level.
