Let me tell you, this is a hot debate in my house every year. As soon as Halloween is over, my wife starts giving me “the look”, Guys you know the one I'm talking about, the one that says, "It's time for the tree." But is it really? I mean, can we at least let the Thanksgiving turkey get cold before we deck the halls?

According to Southern Living Magazine, the official "rule" is not until Black Friday. They say it's the perfect time, you're stuffed with turkey, the football game's on, and you're already in the mood to get festive. Makes sense, right? But let me tell you, in my house, Black Friday might as well be Christmas Eve, because once that tree goes up especially at my house, it’s not coming down anytime soon.

And by "anytime soon," I mean March. Yep, you heard me. If I let my wife have her way, that tree will be in the living room so long it starts feeling more like an Easter shrub. I'm half tempted to just hang some eggs on it and call it a day!

Every year I tell myself I’m going to hold strong and wait until Thanksgiving is over. But then my wife flashes her best puppy-dog eyes, and suddenly I’m digging through the storage building looking for the Christmas Tote Boxes. Maybe one day I’ll win this battle. But until then, y’all are welcome to swing by for Mardi Gras, my house will still look like Santa’s workshop!
