WHAT IS METHYLENE CHLORIDE?

Methylene chloride, also called dichloromethane, is a volatile, colorless liquid with a chloroform-like odor. Methylene chloride is used in various industrial processes, in many different industries including paint stripping, pharmaceutical manufacturing, paint remover manufacturing, and metal cleaning and degreasing. WHY IS DECAF COFFEE IN TROUBLE?

Decaffeinated coffee beans are just regular coffee beans without the stimulant caffeine, though there is some debate over how this molecule is eliminated.

According to Food & Wine, nearly 26 million Americans drink decaffeinated coffee every day. Some of them may find it concerning that the chemicals used in the process have been related to a number of health hazards.

Some decaf drinkers are perplexed and alarmed by recent talks of outlawing methylene chloride, a chemical that is probably carcinogenic and is frequently used in the decaffeination process.
