Still Tired? Why “Falling Back” Might Be Messing With Your Sleep
🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — If you’re draggin’ this morning, you ain’t alone. Daylight saving time ended over the weekend, and I swear I feel like my body’s been in a wrestling match with my alarm clock.

According to SleepFoundation.org, these time changes can throw your whole system outta whack. Your body’s got this thing called a “circadian rhythm,” which is basically your built-in clock. When we “fall back,” that rhythm gets all kinds of confused. You might’ve gone to bed at your normal time last night, but your brain’s sittin’ there like, “Nah, buddy, it’s still early.”
They say this switch is easier than the one in the Spring, but I know tons of us are struggling. So if your coffee ain’t hittin’ right this morning or you’re starin’ at your computer like it’s written in Greek, that’s why.
Now, here’s the kicker: scientists say this whole “just one hour” deal can actually have some serious side effects. During the spring forward part, there’s a spike in heart attacks, strokes, wrecks, and ER visits. The fall switch ain’t as dangerous, but it still ain’t doin’ our sleep any favors.
Tips for Better Sleep
If you wanna get back on track, the experts say try to get outside early in the day, sunlight helps reset your internal clock. Stick to a bedtime routine, and don’t go poundin’ caffeine all afternoon (I know, easier said than done).
Daylight saving time started March 9th and wrapped up over the weekend, November 2nd. So here we are, officially on standard time again. It’s darker earlier, mornings are brighter, and all of us are just tryin’ to remember what day it is.
Hang in there, y’all. Grab that extra cup of coffee, maybe sneak in a nap if the boss ain’t lookin’, and let’s just survive this “fall back” together.
