The Legend of Trace Adkins

The 1996 album Dreamin' Out Loud included huge hit songs like “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing” and “Every Light in the House." Since then, Trace has released 40 hit singles, sold more than 12 million albums, and become one of the most recognizable voices in country music.

Personally, two of my favorite songs of his are “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and “You’re Gonna Miss This.”

Trace Adkins hit well before his songs would start to define bro-country eight years later. It's impossible to imagine a song that objectifies women finding a place on the radio today, but this song danced to No. 2 with little opposition. Five years later Luke Bryan would release "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)," which was also written by Davidson. Same themes, similar intoxicating beat and the same reaction by the masses.Big & Rich's "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" could also be substituted in this spot, as it did much the same thing by combining rock, hip-hop and country with a little over-the-top innuendo. That was a phase we all went through." data-title="Trace Adkins, "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" (2005)"/>Brian Bahr, Getty Images
