Complete Guide To Watching McNeese vs South Dakota State Tonight
Since the Cowboys fell to Gonzaga on March 21st in the NCAA Tournament, the excitement has been through the roof in Lake Charles and across Southwest Louisiana whether fans anticipate who the next Star Cowboy that Wade would get out of the Transfer Portal or which team would be the next for a super-competitive non-conference schedule.
This is NO DOUBT the most anticipated sports season in McNeese Sports history.
Tonight, the McNeese Cowboys Basketball team will kick off their season in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as they will take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, a strong mid-major team from the Summit League. The Jackrabbits have made the NCAA Tournament twice over the last five years.
The game is part of the first-ever Field of 68 Showcase and will take place at 5 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon.
The Field of 68 is a college basketball media network started by sports reporters Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman. The first event will have games between the College of Charleston and Southern Illinois at 11 a.m., Saint Louis and Santa Clara at 2 p.m., and McNeese State and South Dakota State at 5 p.m.
During the local media's visit with Will Wade on Thursday, the Cowboys' Head Man mentioned that he feels that the first 3 or 4 weeks will be a work in progress with so many new guys and injuries during the pre-season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Wade said he felt like they were a little bit behind and hadn’t been able to progress as quickly as he would’ve liked.
Wade also noted that a few Cowboys will be on minutes restrictions Monday due to their lingering injuries and lack of practice time during the preseason.
