What Is NORAD?

NORAD stands for the North American Aerospace Defense Command. Most days, NORAD helps protect the skies over the United States and Canada. But on Christmas Eve, NORAD takes on a very special job, tracking Santa Claus as he travels around the world in his sleigh.

How Can You Track Santa?

Tracking Santa is easy and free. Here are the best ways to do it:

1. Visit the NORAD Website - Go to noradsanta.org on your computer, tablet, or phone. You’ll see a live map showing where Santa is flying. The site also has games, videos, and fun facts about Santa and his reindeer.

2. Use the NORAD Santa App - You can download the NORAD Tracks Santa app on most smartphones. The app lets you follow Santa’s path and get updates as he moves across the world.

3. Follow on Social Media - NORAD shares updates on social media throughout Christmas Eve. You can see photos, videos, and posts about Santa’s latest stops.

Google's Santa Tracker

Another fun way to follow Santa on Christmas Eve is by using the Google Santa Tracker. Google runs its Santa tracker at santatracker.google.com on December 24 and 25.

All through December, and even during the rest of the year, the Google Santa Tracker website is packed with fun holiday games and learning activities. Kids of all ages can play games, watch videos, and learn new things while waiting for Christmas.

Google has been tracking Santa’s trip around the world since 2004. According to Google, Santa’s Christmas Eve journey takes about 25 hours to complete.
