We've had another busy summer at the I-10 beach and it's time to clean up after ourselves. This year's Beach Sweep takes place this Saturday from 7 a.m. until noon. The event is held on the third Saturday of each September and it's an opportunity to uphold our reputation as a clean city and to remove any dangerous debris that may have collected over the summer.

The event will start at 7 a.m. with a briefing at the civic center for all the volunteers.
From around 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the actual clean-up will take place then, starting at around 11, there will be a wrap-up ceremony with our Mayor, Nic Hunter.

According to Keep Greater Lake Charles Beautiful volunteer coordinator, Mason Lindsay,

“Team Green is asking for volunteer groups, service clubs, and families who will commit to helping cleanup one of our area’s beaches or shorelines, in order to keep it beautiful and environmentally safe,”

Event sponsors include the City of Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful, O’Charley’s, Coca-Cola, and Waste Management.
